What is an SVG file?
SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) is a vector image format: instead of storing pixels, it describes shapes, lines and colors with math. That's why an SVG looks perfectly sharp at any size, from a 16-pixel icon to a giant banner. It's the usual format for logos, icons and flat illustrations.
However, many apps don't accept SVG: social networks, document editors, some e-commerce platforms, messaging apps and older presentation software. In those cases you need a raster image, and PNG is the best choice because it keeps transparency and crisp edges.
How to convert SVG to PNG
- Add one or more SVGs by dragging them in or with the choose button.
- Pick the output size: 1x uses the SVG's original dimensions; 2x, 4x or 8x multiply the resolution for retina screens, print or posters.
- Pick the background: transparent (default), white or a custom color.
- Download each PNG or all of them as a ZIP.
Because the SVG is redrawn at the chosen size, the PNG stays sharp even at 8x: this isn't enlarging a small image, it's rendering the vector directly at that resolution.
Which size should you pick?
- 1x: to use the graphic as-is in documents or web pages.
- 2x: recommended for retina screens and social media.
- 4x or 8x: for print, large presentations or when you'll crop later.
If the SVG doesn't declare its dimensions, its viewBox is used; if it has none, 512 × 512 pixels is taken as the base.
Limitations to keep in mind
For security, browsers don't load external resources inside an SVG rendered as an image: linked web fonts and linked images won't appear. If your logo uses a special typeface, convert the text to outlines in your design program before exporting the SVG. System fonts and all embedded content do display.
Privacy
Your SVG files are processed entirely in your browser. They're never uploaded to a server, so you can convert client logos or unreleased designs without worrying.
Tips for the best PNG
Before exporting from Illustrator, Inkscape or Figma, convert text to outlines and avoid linked images: that way the SVG is self-contained and looks the same everywhere. If you need specific sizes for app icons or favicons, export at 8x and then use the image resizer to get each exact size at maximum sharpness. To use the PNG on a website, consider converting it to WebP afterwards with the WebP converter, which keeps transparency and is smaller.
Frequently asked questions
Can I convert SVG to PNG with a transparent background?
Yes, that's the default. You can also pick white or any other background color.
How do I get a high-resolution PNG?
Choose 4x or 8x scale. The vector is rendered directly at that size, so it comes out perfectly sharp.
Why is the text in my SVG missing?
It probably uses a linked web font, which the browser won't load for security reasons. Convert the text to outlines in your design program and export again.
Can I convert several SVGs at once?
Yes — select all you need and download them as a ZIP.
Are my files uploaded?
No, everything is processed on your device.
